October 2025 Career Café: Reframing Failure: Coaching Clients through Setbacks and Career Detours

$20.00

This session explores how career counselors can help clients shift the stories they tell themselves about setbacks and disappointments. Often, clients see these moments as evidence of “failure,” but as coaches, we can disrupt that narrative and invite more empowering perspectives. We’ll practice reframing career detours as opportunities for growth, resilience, and wisdom, while also meeting clients where they are emotionally if they’re not ready to move forward yet.

Participants will leave with practical strategies for helping clients:

  • Recast setbacks as heroic journeys, learning experiences, or stepping stones.

  • Focus on present and future actions that create the “next chapter.”

  • Support clients through resistance by honoring emotions and pacing the process.

Presented info: Darcy Skye is a coach and teacher with 17 years in private practice. She specializes in helping people take the next steps towards their calling with confidence and clarity. She's worked with hundreds of clients seeking to make career change, start their own business and take their purpose and turn it into a meaningful and successful career. She has a Master's Degree in Education and Bachelors degree in Ecology, both from the University of Michigan and several Coaching Certifications.

This event will qualify for .75 SCECHS / CEUs. Certificates of attendance can be requested post-event.

After checkout, you will receive an automated email with the Zoom registration information. Please be sure to add this event to your personal calendar!
